The goal is integrate the banks to improve the electronic security
Febraban, Brazilian Federation of Bankers, is preparing, for June, the biggest Brazilian congress of financial institutions, Ciab Febraban. The goal is debate the activities and the investments that can improve the level of security on Internet
The main theme of the congress will be Technology and Security. During the congress, financial institutions and IT companies will detail all the actions that can guarantee the safety of corporate environments.
The congress will join the activities that a lot of banks have developed, like the publication of education books for their clients, warning papers, primers, use of media, etc. Besides this, big TI companies and organizations will present their initiatives to educate the users in order to have a secure navigation on web, iE, the initiative of Microsoft, who launched the campaign “Have a Secure Navigation”, in alliance with Abrinq Foundation (a Brazilian foundation for the rights of the children) and the NGO Cidade Escola Aprendiz.
Beyond The Technology
These programs are strong allies in the fight and prevention of crime practices, like phishing (the robbery on-line of passwords), malware (dissemination of virus), spyware (spy software), and spams (indiscriminate spreading of e-mails to millions of users), and porn material.
Part of the US$ 3 billion that Brazilian banks have invested in technology is dedicated to improve the security of electronic operations. Nowadays, the environment of the Internet in Brazilian banks is very safety. But the client is still exposed and – due to lack of smarts – is a pray for the hackers.
Biggest ediction in 18 years
Ciab Febraban will have, in 2008, a record number of sponsors. So far, 14 companies have guaranteed their participation. Moreover, 62 stands have been commercialized. The sponsors are divided into three categories: Diamond (Itautec, Diebold Procomp, Oi, IBM, Perto, HP, and CPM Braxis), Gold (EMC, CA, Microsoft, CSC BRASIL, and DTS) and Silver Prata (Mastercard, and CA). Serasa will be, one more time co-sponsor.
Ciab Febraban will be realized on June 11-13 at Transamérica Expocenter, in São Paulo.
